Job interview questions | Standard graduate first round job interview questions

As most graduates tend to have a lack of job experience, the first round of many graduate job interviews will be conducted by someone from human resources. The questions will tend to be highly generic and ask you about situations where you have displayed certain types of skills.

This type of interview is particularly typical of companies that have a large intake of graduates every year. Therefore you should expect this type of first round interview if you are going for a graduate job at one of the big accounting firms such as KPMG, PwC, Deloitte or Ernst & Young.

Some applications will get through these questions before you go to interview by placing the questions in the application form.

The best way to answer these questions is to think up a list of situations where you have been successful, where you have faced problems and where you have achieved your goals. Thinking up a list of about six different situations should allow you to be adaptable enough to answer these generic questions.
