My brother who is 18 is getting really worried about work. He isn't the most book smart man in the world so he decided not to go to university but now he is struggling to find some long term work.

Its been fine over the Christmas period as he has been able to tie himself over working in a shop but that won't last.

I keep telling him that he needs to get a trade, but I don't know where he can find anything given that people are shedding jobs. Maybe he should go to college and start a practical course. Maybe he should volenteer.

I guess he has youth on his side and few overheads but I would hate for him to get out of the swing of working.

Looks like the government is really worried about young person unemployment.

I read today that they are planning on creating lots of apprenticeships and some sort of plan to get graduates jobs by through internships. These things could work I guess.

I also hear though that some of the banks are still taking on graduates whilst sacking more senior members of staff. They are doing this because grads are much cheaper and they will need a skilled staff there to allow them to take advantage once the markets turn up again...

...which they will, one day ;)
