University career service

How many undergraduates and post-graduates are using their university career services?

I remember when I was an undergrad I never once went to see the careers service for any advice. By the time it came round to applying for jobs I really wish I had as they were full of advice and able to check through CVs. It seems to me to be a facility that is under used by many students.

One thing I did use the careers service for was their web site which hosted full and part time jobs. It wasn't that useful for full time jobs as the best of these were listed at sites such as Monster or the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, nevertheless, for part time and local jobs it was an excellent service.

Having worked on this web site it has become clear to me that career services are a very useful resource. In the new year I shall be collating the information I have collected on each university's careers service, including contact details and web site links. I shall keep you updated with the progress being made.
